CHANDIGARH: The gangsters who killed Punjab singer Shubhdeep Singh alias Sidhu Moosewala also conducted a recce of Bollywood star Salman Khan to plan the strategy to kill him as he was also on their target.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that during the initial interrogation, Kapil Pandit who got in West Bengal (near Indo-Nepal border), revealed that on the instructions of Lawrence Bishnoi, he (along with Sachin Bishnoi and Santosh Yadav) had gone to Mumbai to conduct a recce of Salman Khan to plan his killing.
“They were studying his daily routine and movement to analyse his pattern and were not carrying any weapons with them,” said a police officer on condition of anonymity.
Earlier in June, a threatening letter was sent to Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan in which it was reportedly stated that both father and son would soon meet the same fate as slain singer Sidhu Moosewala.
“We will be collaborating their statements and further inquire into the issue and then will get in touch with the Mumbai Police and if need be send our team to Mumbai also,’’ he added.
“Kapil revealed that earlier also, he had carried out a recce for several times with the intention to kill Sidhu Moosewala on the behest of Lawrence Bishnoi gang to avenge the killing of Vicky Middukhera,” he further added.
Yadav said that the sixth shooter Deepak Mundi in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case and his two associates, Kapil Pandit and Rajinder alias Joker were arrested in a joint operation with Delhi Police as they, were planning to escape to Dubai on fake documents. Mundi was in touch with Canada-based gangster Goldi Brar as the latter had promised them a safe passage via Nepal.
“They were arrested from near Indo-Nepal checkpoint in the area of Kharibari Police Station in Darjeeling district of West Bengal on Saturday. A team of AGTF led by AIG Gurmeet Chauhan and DSP Bikram Brar brought Mundi and his two aides to Punjab by air on Saturday late at night. With these three arrests, the total number of arrests in the Sidhu Moosewala Murder case is 23, and two shooters identified as Manpreet Singh alias Manu Kussa and Jagroop Singh alias Roopa were neutralized during an encounter in Bhakna village of Amritsar. Other shooters, who were arrested earlier, have been identified as Priyavrat Fauji, Kashish and Ankit Sersa,’’ he said.
Yadav, who was accompanied by Additional DGP Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Promod Ban, said that after killing Sidhu Moosewala both Mundi and Kapil have been staying together and were constantly shifting their locations in the directions of Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who is the main conspirator.
“Mundi and Kapil stayed in states including Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, UP and West Bengal,” he said, adding that Joker, who was already stationed in Nepal, had come to West Bengal to facilitate the entry of Mundi and Kapil to take them to a safe house in Nepal. He said that Goldy Brar had promised Mundi and Kapil to settle them in Dubai on fake passports.
“Both were supposed to receive their fake passports in Nepal or Thailand, and after which they were to fly to Dubai,” he added. He said that there is a strong nexus between terror groups and the gangsters and ISI is exploiting this nexus.
He further said that Red Corner Notice has been issued against gangster Goldy Brar through Interpol with the help of central agencies as till now a total of 23 accused have been arrested in the Sidhu Moose Wala case.
Meanwhile, the Police have procured six days remand of the arrested persons after producing them before the Mansa Court on Sunday.
