Zone-3 sewer project to upgrade Hyderabad city infra

Hyderabad: The Zone-3 Sewer Network Project aims to modernise the city’s sewage system across 33.5 sq. km, covering four Assembly constituencies, with a budget of Rs 297 crore. The project includes the construction of a 135-km pipeline network to enhance sewage collection in areas such as the Old City, Jubilee Hills, and nearby neighbourhoods. To date, 120 km of the pipeline have been completed.HMW&SB managing director Ashok Reddy, alongside MLA Kausar Mohiuddin, inspected the project’s progress. During their visit, they assessed the ongoing work near the Tolichowki flyover, where construction is taking place on a busy main road.Reddy discussed strategies to complete the work without causing significant traffic disruptions. Considering the presence of several temples and labor centers in the area, he suggested that tunneling operations, planned to occur at depths of 8 to 11 metres, be carried out during off-peak hours or on holidays to minimise disruption.Reddy emphasised the need for coordination with local authorities, including GHMC and Transco, to ensure smooth tunneling operations. He also recommended digging trial pits to check for any underground pipes or cables, while urging workers to use proper barricades and safety gear.Reddy also reviewed pipeline expansion works in areas such as ED Lines, Gudimalakapoor, and Girikapalli. He requested that these works be completed by May to prevent any inconvenience to the Muslim community during Ramadan.
