HYDERABAD: The Teenage and Young Adult Cancer (TYAcan) Foundation, a voluntary organisation dedicated to addressing the unique needs of cancer patients aged 15 to 30, successfully organised an awareness run in Hyderabad. The event featured 5 km, 10 km, and 15 km runs, starting from the Secretariat and passing through Necklace Road, Sanjeevaiah Park, Khairatabad, and concluding back at the Secretariat.The run saw enthusiastic participation from 50 doctors and 30 runners, all coming together for a worthy cause. The event highlighted the importance of early detection, support systems, and advancements in cancer treatments specifically tailored for young adults.Notable participants included Dr. Sadashivudu, Head of the Oncology Department at NIMS Hospital; Dr. Meher Lakshmi, Associate Professor at NIMS; Dr. Rachana, Associate Professor at NIMS; Dr. Raghunath Rao, Mentor and Head of the Oncology Department at MNJ Hospital; Dr. M.V.T. Krishna Mohan, Senior Medical Oncologist at Indo-American Cancer Hospital; Dr. Shiva Kumar, Head of Medical Oncology at Kurnool Government Medical Hospital; Dr. Stalin Chowdary, Senior Medical Oncologist at Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital, Visakhapatnam; and Dr. Prakash Chitalkar, Organising Secretary of TYAcan.”We are thrilled to witness such a strong show of support for the young adult cancer community,” said Dr. Sadashivudu. “Events like this help raise critical awareness and create a support network for those battling cancer.”Dr. Prakash Chitalkar, Organising Secretary of TYAcan, emphasized the importance of continued efforts in raising awareness. “Young cancer patients face unique challenges, and by coming together, we are fostering a more informed and compassionate society,” he said.The awareness run, supported by the Hyderabad Runners community, underscores TYAcan Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting young cancer patients and survivors, while keeping pace with advancements in cancer care.
