Bhadradri: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced on Friday that the process to establish an airport in Kothagudem will begin within six months, with the site planned at Rudhrampur. The project aims to improve connectivity and support workers in Singareni Collieries and nearby coal mines.During the inauguration of a Rs 2 crore central lighting system in Sujathanagar mandal, the minister also outlined plans for an indoor stadium in Singareni and efforts to boost tourism in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district to generate local employment. Forest and private lands will be acquired for the construction of the airport, which is expected to improve connectivity to Kothagudem. “People from different parts of the country travel to Kothagudem for work in Singareni Collieries and to visit their relatives working in coal mines,” he added. He confirmed the Eru festival would be celebrated on January 9 at the Godavari River ghats and later laid the foundation for a Rs 1 crore bridge in Palvancha mandal.
