The Drishyam series, starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, remains one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated crime thrillers. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the first film (2013) became a massive success, leading to multiple remakes, including a Telugu adaptation in 2014 with Telugu star Venkatesh in the lead. The remake also proved to be a hit. The sequel, Drishyam 2, continued the franchise’s winning streak, earning acclaim for its gripping narrative and Mohanlal’s stellar performance. While the Malayalam version premiered directly on OTT due to the pandemic, the Telugu remake, also starring Venkatesh and directed by Jeethu Joseph, opted for a digital release. Now, with Drishyam 3 officially confirmed, Mohanlal recently announced the news, stating, “The past never remains silent… Drishyam 3 confirmed,” alongside a picture with Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor. The big question now is whether Venkatesh will reprise his role in the Telugu remake. Having headlined the first two installments, fans believe he should continue the legacy. “In Telugu, Drishyam is synonymous with Venkatesh, just as Ajay Devgn leads the Hindi version, so there’s a strong possibility he will take up the project,” says a source.
