VIJAYAWADA: V. Vijayasai Reddy on Saturday met Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and handed over his resignation letter as MP.On Friday, Vijayasai Reddy, once a confidante of former chief minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, had announced his decision to quit active politics.Addressing media in Delhi after submitting his resignation to the RS chairman, which has been accepted, Vijayasai Reddy declared, “No matter how much I am forced to become an approver in the cases (against Jagan Mohan Reddy), I will not. I believe in God, I do not know about betrayal and cheating,” he declared.Vijayasai Reddy, however, did not say who tried to force him to be an approver. He maintained that he has resigned as the member of the Rajya Sabha due to personal reasons. YSRC had nominated him as a member of the Rajya Sabha a couple of years ago.“I have resigned even though my term would have continued for another three-and-a-half years. I have also decided to quit politics,” he reiterated.Vijayasai Reddy recalled that YSRC had won 151 seats in 2019. “Even in 2024 elections, the party got 40 per cent of the vote. Jagan is a very popular leader. Even if a thousand people like me leave, support for Jagan will not decrease. I have explained over phone my reasons for resigning to Jagan, who is on a trip to London,” he stated. Vijayasai Reddy went on to say that during his long political career, he has never lied. “As a person who believes in Hinduism and Lord Venkateswara, I do not lie. I have been associated with the YS family for four decades. I have had close relations with Raja Reddy, Rajasekhar Reddy and Jagan for three generations,” he pointed out to emphasise his association with the YS family.Vijayasai Reddy spoke about the case related to Kakinada seaport against him. He maintained that he is in no way related to the seaport case.Responding to assumptions regarding his resignation in lieu of settlement of cases, Vijayasai Reddy said as he has left politics, he will become even weaker. “Then, why will the cases be waived,” he asked.“I will face anything bravely,” Vijayasai Reddy added.
