Vijayawada: The Welfare Association of Water Users and Ayacutdars has appealed to the Krishna River Management Board to release the Krishna water to agricultural fields and save the standing crops in the Zone II and III region.The members, in a letter addressed to the chairman of KRMB here on Monday, sought release of 3,059 cusecs of water with a flow of 1,700 cusecs at 101.36km of 21st branch canal for realisation of water up to the tail end region of Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal and to save the crops in Zone II and III region. They also made a call to assess the actual transmission losses, as the Telangana is recording huge losses as against AP’s share in their water releases at the AP border, by duly deputing the KRMB authorities to the NS canal system.The members also called for handing over of the NS right canal head regulator, which is in the AP region by duly withdrawing the CRPF forces and Telangana authorities in order to supply the water to Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal Yacub as per the required cropping schedules. They pleaded for allocation of AP’s rightful share of water at 512tmc-ft out of the 811tmc-ft as per KWDT-1 to protect the existing ayacut under the AP project. The members also sought action for shifting the headquarter of KRMB to Vijayawada as per AP Reorganisation Act.
