WARANGAL: The police busted the SBI robbery and nabbed three members of a seven-member burglar gang and seized 2.520 kilograms of gold ornaments worth Rs 1.8 crore from their possession in Warangal on Friday.Burglars broke open an SBI branch and looted gold ornaments worth over Rs 13 crore mortgaged by customers. The bank robbery which took place on November 19 night at SBI in Raiparthy mandal not only created a commotion in the district but also raised doubts about the safety measures taken by the authorities of the various banks.Disclosing the facts to the media, police commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha said that the three members of the gang were identified as Arshad Ansari, 34, Shakir Khan alias Bhole Khan, 28, and Himanshu Bigam Chandh Jhanwar, 30, all residents of Uttar Pradesh.While the main accused was identified as Mohammad Nawab Hasan, 39, other three members were identified as Zakheer Ali Khan, 35, both residents of Uttar Pradesh. Akshay Gajanan Ambore, 24, and Sagar Bhaskar Ghor, 32, both residents of Maharashtra. All the four are absconding.Mohammad Nawab Hasan formed the seven member gang who indulged in several thefts targeting banks present in remote places and in rural areas. They took a house in Hyderabad for rent in the name of doing business. Nawab Hasan first conducted a recce of the SBI in Raiparthy mandal and decided to loot it.On November 18, they hired a car in Hyderabad and reached Raiparthy. At around 11 pm, they broke open the bank after cutting electricity and alarm wires of the bank. With the help of a gas-cutter they broke open the strong room and looted the gold ornaments from three lockers worth Rs 13.61 crore.Early in the morning next day they went to Hyderabad and distributed the ornaments equally among them. By dividing themselves into three teams, they left for Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh by vacating the house.Ten special police teams were deployed to nab the burglars under the leadership of West Zone DCP Raja Mahendra Naik and using advanced technology traced to burglars and arrested three members of the gang and started a manhunt to nab the remaining four who are absconding.The CP appreciated the police team which included ACPs Narsaiah, Bojaraju, Kiran Kumar, inspectors Santosh, Srinivas Reddy, Balaji, Vara Prasad, Shiva Kumar, Raghupathi Reddy, Srinivas Rao, Mahendar Reddy, Abbaiah, Pavan Kumar, Vishweshwar and Salman Pasha.
