The ruling Aam Admi Party (AAP) headed by former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is pushing for a third consecutive term in power while the BJP, which managed to make a mark in the Lok Sabha elections, it is all set to nab the capital city in the upcoming elections.The Congress is also another key player in the game. The grand old party is contesting alone in the upcoming elections, taking on both BJP and AAP, its alliance partner in the Lok Sabha polls.Responding to allegations regarding the altercation of electoiral rolls, CEC Rajiv Kumar said canards are being spread to target particular groups. “Canards being spread about wrongful additions or deletions in electoral rolls to target particular groups,” Kumar said. Responding to claims regarding addition and deletion in voter lists, the CEC asserted that “due process was followed rigorously” and there was “no room for any manipulation.””Political parties were involved at each and every stage of voter list preparation with full disclosure and opportunity to object,” he claimed. The CEC also claimed that it is “impossible” to change voter turnout data and therefore the allegations on the sudden jump in poll percentage post 5 pm is misconceived. “Impossible to change voter turnout data, misconceived narrative being spread on increase in voting after 5 pm,” he said. He also said that new records for voter turnout were created this year. “We have created new records of voting, women participation; we will soon have a new record of one billion-plus voters,” Kumar said.
