Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda for appointing her as the Chairperson of a constitutional and legislative body, she posted in Hindi that the aim is to move towards women-led development by enhancing the capacity, opportunity and quality of life of women in various spheres like education, health, employment and social participation.According to the official notification issued the same day, Rahatkar’s appointment has been made under Section 3 of the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, and will span three years or until she turns 65, whichever comes first.Her tenure commences with immediate effect, and the appointment will be published in the Gazette of India.Alongside Rahatkar’s appointment, the government has also introduced new members to the NCW. Archana Majumdar has been named a member of the commission, with her tenure also set at three years.Rahatkar is a prominent leader and advocate for women’s rights, known for her extensive work in public service.
