Uttarakhand to implement Uniform Civil Code from January 2025

Dhami noted, “Our resolution letter not only outlines development plans but also demonstrates the BJP’s working style and commitment to transparency. The BJP’s priority is not merely to make announcements but to turn those announcements into reality.”The Chief Minister asserted, “In the upcoming municipal elections, the BJP will ensure comprehensive development of cities and provide better facilities to citizens.”Reacting to the BJP’s manifesto, Uttarakhand Congress’s chief spokesperson, Garima Mahra Dasouni, strongly criticised the move. She stated, “For the first time since the formation of the state, the BJP has felt the need to issue a manifesto for municipal elections. This suggests that the party recognises its weakened position in these elections and is resorting to a manifesto to divert public attention.”Meanwhile, the Congress party has opted not to release a formal manifesto for this election cycle. Instead, the party’s top leadership has directed all mayoral candidates, as well as those contesting elections for municipal councils, town councils, and wards, to create a manifesto tailored to local conditions.
