New Delhi: The UPI transaction limit for tax payments has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, announced Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Shaktikanta Das.RBI governor Shaktikant Das addressing a press conference on Monetary policy statement said, “Currently the transaction limit for UPI is Rs 1 lakh except for certain categories of payments which have higher transaction limits. It has now been decided to enhance the limit for tax payments through UPI from Rs one lakh to Rs five lakh per transaction. This will further ease payment by consumers through UPI.”In December 2023, RBI had enhanced the transaction limit for UPI payments to hospitals and educational institutions to Rs 5 lakh, which was Rs 1 lakh earlier.
