University Grants Commission on Monday sought a report from the university authorities on its finding in the death of a first-year student who is said to be a victim of alleged ragging by seniors. Amid political heat over the incident of alleged ragging in Jadavpur University leading to death of first-year student Swapnodeep Kundu, UGC reprimanded Jadavpur University for submitting a ‘generic’ report on the alleged ragging, sexual harassment which happened inside the campus, said sources.
According to PTI, UGC has said, “No proactive measures were taken to curb ragging at the University, and is not satisfied with the report.”
