Hyderabad: Tollywood producer Sunkara Krishna Prasad Chowdary, more popularly known as K.P. Chowdary, died by suicide in Goa on Monday.He shot to fame after he released the Tamil hit ‘Kabali’ in Telugu. He was believed to be in a financial crisis amid mounting pressure from his lenders.Around 18 months, he was arrested by the Cyberabad special operations team on charges of supplying NDPS drugs to clients from the film fraternity and high-profile personalities from other fields, police sources said.He entered the drugs racket after suffering significant setbacks in his film career. He also opened a pub in Goa, from where he allegedly supplied drugs to celebrities, police sources said.Chowdary, who hails from Khammam district, entered the film industry in 2016. Seven years later, in 2023 he was arrested by the Cyberabad SOT for being in possession of 93 grams of cocaine.He allegedly used to procure ganja from a Nigerian Petit Ebuzer for his own use and began supplying drugs to others in his circle. Chowdary was also dealing with drug kingpin Edwin Nunes, who was earlier arrested by HNEW.
