Hyderabad: Members of Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee (TGEJAC) here on Tuesday met Director-General of Police Jitender and lodged a complaint requesting to initiate necessary action against those who attacked Vikarabad Collector Prateek Jain and others at Lagcherla village in the district on Monday. A delegation led by Committee Chairman V Lachi Reddy met the DGP at his chambers in Lakdi-ka-Pul and submitted a complaint in this regard. According to Reddy, Prateek Jain along with Additional Collector Revenue Vikarabad district Lingya Naik, Kodangal Area Development Authority Special Officer K Venkat Reddy and other revenue staff went to Lagcherla village at Dudyal mandal of Vikarabad district on Monday for seeking public opinion to initiate land acquisition process for proposed pharma city announced by the State government. Certain miscreants, who were present at the meeting organized for seeking public opinion, along with farmers abused, chased and attacked officials raising slogans against the Collector, who is also a district Magistrate, and his team, duly resorting to violence and obstructed them while discharging official duties. “We further submit that if strict action as per prevailing laws has not been taken in time against culprits this trend may be spread to other places and State administration will be adversely affected,” Reddy explained. He said all the government employees were psychologically upset and agitated with that incident and all were under an impression that if a district Magistrate, Additional district Magistrate and executive Magistrate had been attacked what would be the fate of other departmental officials who directly interacted with farmers and other beneficiaries at field level. “We, therefore, request you kindly to take severe action in against the culprits and instigators in this case urgently and issue necessary instructions to all Superintendents of Police (SPs) in Telangana to keep vigil on the situation in such cases and to prevent such incidents in future to protect government officials while on duty,” he added.
