Hyderabad: A record 3,05,774 candidates have signed up for the Telangana Engineering, Agriculture & Pharmacy Common Entrance(TG EAPCET) scheduled between April 29 and May 4. Of these, 253 candidates will take the tests in both streams.The agriculture and pharmacy (A&P) stream exams will be held on April 29 and 30 and the engineering stream from May 2 to 4. On all days, the exams will be held from 9 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 6 pm. Hall tickets can be downloaded from April 19 for the A&P stream and for engineering, April 22. Conducted by JNTUH on behalf of the Telangana Council for Higher Education (TGCHE), the exam is meant for admissions into undergraduate professional courses. The exam will be held across 16 test zones and 236 centres. The engineering stream has drawn 2,19,420 candidates, the A&P stream 86,101. Hyderabad drew over 1.4 lakh applicants in four subzones, followed by Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Nizamabad. About 2.8 lakh candidates hail from the local Telangana (OU) region. The remaining 25,000 fall under the unreserved category. More female candidates, 1,58,885, will take the test than males, 1,46,828. Notably, students from government colleges make up the majority. Around 31,650 candidates are from minority communities. Nearly 12,500 applicants have applied under special reservation categories such as NCC, Sports, CAP, and Anglo-Indian, while 775 physically handicapped students have also registered. Economically weaker sections (EWS) constitute over 31,000 candidates.
