VIJAYAWADA: The 29th death anniversary of the founding president of Telugu Desam, world-renowned actor, former Chief Minister, and Padma Shri Dr Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao was celebrated with great pomp at the TD central office here on Saturday. A blood donation camp was organised on this occasion, with ministers, leaders, and activists donating blood.Speaking on the occasion, TD leaders highlighted that NTR believed society is a temple and people are gods, providing equal opportunities to all communities. They noted that the concept of welfare emerged only after NTR came to power. NTR is credited with providing rice at two rupees per kilo to the poor, building permanent homes for the homeless, and offering free electricity to poor farmers. The leaders also recalled the abolition of the “Patel Patwari” system during the Nizam period, which benefited the poor. The TD leaders stated that, continuing NTR’s ideals, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and young leader Lokesh are consistently working for the welfare of the people and the development of the state. They added that whenever any Telugu person around the world hears the word ‘Anna’, the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao will come to mind.
