Hyderabad: More than 100 Young India Integrated Residential Schools will be established across Telangana, with one planned for Hyderabad. While land has been allocated smoothly in other districts, with 20–25 acres earmarked per school, rumours surfaced about land-related challenges in Hyderabad.Hyderabad collector Anudeep Durishetty dismissed these concerns, stating that land identification is nearly complete. “We have narrowed down the location to two or three parts of the city. Our final decision will be based on what is most convenient for students. We aim to finalise it by the end of this week,” Durishetty said.As per official sources, Chandrayangutta is currently the preferred site, though the final selection will be announced soon. To recall, the Young India Integrated Residential Schools initiative was an education reform launched by the Telangana government in October 2024. As part of the initiative, the government wants to establish one such school in each of the state’s 119 Assembly constituencies and provide high-quality education under a single roof for students from SC, ST, BC and minority communities. These English-medium schools will serve students from Class IV to XII, providing modern amenities such as smart boards, computer labs, and digital libraries. The campuses will feature dedicated sports grounds for cricket, football, basketball, and tennis. Additionally, the plan aims to create net-zero environments by integrating solar and wind energy systems and rainwater harvesting mechanisms. The government has allocated 5,000 crore to the initiative. Each school is expected to cost Rs 125 crore.
