KARIMNAGAR: The annual Kalyana Mahotsavam of Lord Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy was celebrated with pomp and piety at the Sri Ramalayam temple, marking Sri Rama Navami in Huzurabad constituency. Regarded as Telangana’s second-largest Sri Rama wedding ceremony after Bhadrachalam, the event drew devotees from across Karimnagar district and neighbouring regions, offering a spiritual alternative for those unable to travel to the state’s premier shrine. Festivities began with local MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, district collector Pamela Satpathy and police commissioner Goush Alam presenting pattu vastrams, talambralu and garlands to the deities. Silk robes and pearl talambralu from Kondagattu Sri Anjaneyas Swamy and Dharmapuri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temples added traditional grandeur. Vedic chants echoed through the temple as priests solemnised the celestial wedding. The district administration, acting on the collector’s directives, erected shamiyanas, fans, carpets and high-capacity power lines to keep crowds comfortable. The Rice Millers Association supplied free meals and drinking water, while a live telecast enabled devotees across the district to witness the rituals. To ease traffic, commissioner Alam deployed 250 officers, created six parking zones and installed surveillance cameras. The Brahmotsavams, which opened on April 4, will continue until April 16 . Additional collectors Prapul Desai and Lakshmi Kiran, RDOs Ramesh and Mahesh, ACP Srinivas, temple EO Sudhakar and other officials supervised proceedings.
