Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday issued interim directions of status quo on the communication dated 14 February, 2025 issued by the state’s bar council for 110 advocate bar associations in Telangana.In the communication, the state bar council made it clear that the term of the bar associations shall be for a period of one year and directed the executive bodies of all bar associations in Telangana to conduct elections on or before 31 March, 2025.The bar council also rejected the representations made by the bar associations in the state for extensions of the term of elected executive body for two years, instead of one year. The bar council said the said extension proposal is against the model bye-laws framed by the bar council as per the Bar Council of India.Challenging it, 25 bar associations led by Ranga Reddy District Court Bar Association president Kondal Reddy and general secretary Gulagari Krishna approached the Telangana High Court.The court issued status quo orders till the first week of March and adjourned the hearing.
