Hyderabad: A 17-year-old girl died due to electrocution after coming in contact with the extension wire of a washing machine at her home in Alinagar. The incident occurred when she was trying to remove the extension cable connection from the machine. Her parents found her lying on the floor when they returned from work, police said.
Man nabbed with foreign currency
Hyderabad: Customs officials apprehended one Amir Ahmed for allegedly smuggling foreign currency notes worth `22 lakh at the Shamshabad. He was flying to Dubai when the officials stopped him on suspicion and recovered undeclared Saudi Arabia riyals and US dollars.
Man ends life near rly tracks
Hyderabad: A 45-year-old man died allegedly by suicide near the Kachiguda railway station on Monday. The deceased was identified as Md Alauddin of Nawab Sahab Kunta. Passengers of a MMTS noticed the body and informed the police. Kachiguda GRP inspector Yellappa said Alauddin was facing health issues.
Farmer held with 3.5 kg of ganja
Hyderabad: The H NEW, the southwest zone task force and the Tappachabutra police arrested P. Narendra, a farmer from AP, with 3.5 kg ganja on Tuesday. Police are on the look-out for his supplier Ram Singh of Visakhapatnam and two drug consumers.
JH cops arrest 2 for vehicle theft
Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday arrested Pothuluri Chandrashekar, Kalidindi Suri Babu and Dandangi Prasad for allegedly stealing a vehicle, during a routine check. The arrest was made on a complaint Linamallu Venkata Satish about the theft of his two-wheeler Yousufguda on February 10.
6 held for selling fake certificates
Hyderabad:Police arrested six persons including Mohammed Habeeb, owner of Fly Abroad, a consultancy in Malakpet, for providing fake education certificates for `1 lakh to `1.5 lakh. Habeeb procured forged educational documents through Sunil Kapoor and Rahul Tiwari of Uttar Pradesh, Task force DCP Y.V.S. Sudheendra said.
In 2022, Habeeb was arrested by the Chaderghat police in connection with a similar case, and Sunil Kapoor in 2023. Tiwari stepped into the scene and Habeeb resumed the production and circulation of fake educational certificates, the DCP said.
The counterfeit certificates were sent to Hyderabad by post, bearing the names of various universities.
The other accused were identified as Syed Khaleeluddin, Saqlain Ahmed, Syed Moinuddin and Mohammad Wajahat Ali. Habeeb targeted students and job-seekers, offering fraudulent certificates in exchange for large sums of money, police said.
Sudeendhra added, “The agents and sub-agents would charge more based on the urgency and specific needs of the candidates.”
Kirti Teja confesses to grandfather’s killing: Police
Hyderabad:During the four-day police custody of Kirti Teja, accused of the brutal murder of his grandfather V.C. Janardhan Rao, managing director of the `460-crore Veljan Group, investigators uncovered a second murder weapon, sources said on Tuesday.
Police said Teja was non-communicative in the beginning, but began to talk as the questioning progressed, leading investigators to reconstruct the crime scene and recover the knife used to stab Janardhan Rao more than 60 times.
Teja was apprehended a day later. In the meantime, he had disposed of the weapon and attempted to erase evidence by burning his blood-stained clothes in a lane in BS Makta. The police have sent the knife and the blood-stained clothing to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis. The other knife has also been sent for forensic tests.
A source said Teja purchased the knife from an online platform. It was stated that he wanted to avenge his grandfather not giving him money and a place on the company board.
