Chennai: The entire ruling coalition in Tamil Nadu will give a miss to the tea party hosted by Governor R N Ravi at the Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Independence Day with the DMK, too, announcing its decision to boycott the event joining hands with the rest of its allies. The DMK’s allies, the Congress, the CPI, the CPM, VCK and MDMK had already said that they would boycott the team party to express their anger against the Governor, who had been consistently working against the interest of the State by being a stumbling block to the development programmes of the elected government in the State. Despite an uncertainty hanging over R N Ravi continuing as Governor of the State – the tenure has not been officially extended and a replacement has also been not announced – the hosting of the traditional tea party in the lawns of the Raj Bhavan has been announced. While the DMK has been at loggerheads with the Governor ever since he took charge, it had attended his tea parties in the past out of courtesy even when its allies had kept away. But this time the DMK, too, has decided to boycott.
