NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday decided to hear the petition seeking a direction to the authorities to postpone the NEET PG 2024 on August 09. A three-judge bench of the top court, led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud, agreed to list, the petition for hearing on Friday, August 09.It was filed in the top court yesterday.The CJI agreed to list the case for hearing on Friday, after hearing an urgent plea mentioned by the petitioner’s counsel, advocate Anas Tanwir. “This is NEET PG case and it is to be held on August 11,” Tanwir said.Thereby, the petitioner prayed to the apex court that the exam be stayed till the petition is decided by it. Hearing this, the CJI directed the Supreme Court registry, “Please list it tomorrow.”The plea was moved by Vishal Soren, and some other candidates, as they were facing a lot of difficulties in reaching their exam centres since they had been allocated centres in cities which are inconvenient for them to reach.”Many similarly placed candidates have been allocated cities that are highly inconvenient for them to reach and further seeking details of the formula for normalisation of the four sets of question paper,” the petition said. The allocation of test cities was made on July 31 and designated centres are to be declared today, August 8, by the authorities of NEET-PG.This decision has left many candidates with very little time to travel to the respective exam centres on August 11, the petition said and sought appropriate directions and orders from the authorities.
