Hyderabad: M. Jyothi, supervisor from the tahsildar’s office in Kapra mandal, was suspended and issued a showcause notice for failing to safeguard caste census forms which, according to norms, have to be secured in trunk boxes and transported.The action followed the census forms found scattered on the roads of Tarnaka, Hyderabad. The forms were identified as belonging to Ward 27 of Jawaharnagar Municipal Corporation. District collector Gowtham Potru ordered an investigation by the Jawaharnagar municipal commissioner and the supervisor concerned.After an inquiry, they found that the papers had fallen from Jyothi’s personal vehicle when she was transporting them. HMWS&SB personnel noticed the forms and informed the municipal commissioner. All the forms were recovered and stored, officials said.Meanwhile, the GHMC said 72.02 per cent of the households had been surveyed, numbering 17.47 lakh. On Saturday 1.09 lakh houses were surveyed, including the residence of Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari in Jubilee Hills.Elsewhere, with the caste census having been completed in a few districts and nearing completion in many others, the state government initiated the digitisation of the collected data on Saturday.Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari directed collectors to oversee the data entry process and ensure it was carried out accurately. She stressed the importance of safeguarding survey documents and handling the data with the utmost care.Collectors have initiated the computerisation of collected data to streamline the process and ensure efficient handling of survey details. Enumerators and data entry operators have been instructed to double-check details during the digitisation to prevent discrepancies. The ongoing survey has identified 1,16,93,698 households of which 89.8 per cent, or 1,05,03,257 households, have been covered. Details of 2,61,384 households have been digitised as of Saturday.
