Shibu Soren’s daughter-in-law Sita Soren refuses to accept Kalpana Soren as the new CM face in Jharkhand

JHARKHAND: Amid speculations that Chief Minister Hemant Soren may project his wife Kalpana Soren as the new CM face in Jharkhand, Sita Soren, his sister in law and wife of his brother late Durga Soren, is not happy with the decision. After the name of Kalpana Soren surfaced as the new CM face, Sita Soren, a JMM MLA from Jama Assembly seat, has started opposing the move.Significantly, Sita Soren was also not present in the meeting on Tuesday and will not attend the meeting either on Wednesday. She said that she is not against the meeting and have always been a supporter of unity in the party, but will oppose every decision of making Kalpana Soren the Chief Minister.Notably, a meeting of legislators of the ruling alliance was called at the CM House on Tuesday evening chaired by CM Hemant Soren during which the legislators were reportedly made to sign a “Consent letter” that may be used in case of a political crisis that may arise if CM Soren gets arrested or made compelled resign amid the current political crisis in the state.According to Sita Soren, her husband late Durga Soren also contributed a lot along with his father and JMM patriarch Shibu Soren. After the demise of her husband, she had sacrificed a lot for the party. “Why should I always give up? I accepted the decision of making Hemant Soren as Chief Minister, but I will not accept Kalpana Soren in any way,” Sita Soren was quoted as saying. “ Had she not been in politics, she would not have stood up for her rights…..she was expecting some reward after 2019 polls, but she was completely ignored”, she added.Sita Soren also questioned why her two daughters are not getting the blessings of CM Hemant Soren despite the fact that they have grown up.Meanwhile, ED has written a letter to the Jharkhand government on Tuesday to maintain law and order situation in the state during CM Hemant Soren’s questioning on January 31 following which the state has formed a three-member committee to maintain ‘full control’ over the situation. The Enforcement Directorate will question CM Hemant Soren at his residence in Ranchi in land scam case on Wednesday. -By Mukesh Ranjan
