Senior Supreme Court lawyer and eminent constitutional jurist Fali S Nariman passed away in New Delhi on Wednesday. He was 95.Nariman was enrolled as an advocate of the Bombay High Court in November 1950, and has been a Supreme Court lawyer since 1971. He served as Additional Solicitor General during 1972-75. The veteran jurist was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1999-2005 and has also served as the President of the Bar Association of India.He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in January 1991 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2007.Born in 1929 in Rangoon, Burma, which was part of British India, Nariman became a senior advocate in 1961 and he resigned from the additional solicitor general post in protest against declaration of the Emergency.
