Hyderabad: A 32-year-old security guard, Raga Jyothi, was allegedly run over by a lorry on Saturday morning, Medchal police said. Police said Jyothi, a Manthani native, was crossing the road when the lorry hit her. A case was registered against the driver and further investigation is underway.Excise Task Force Nabs IIT Student, Tech Worker Selling Ganja in HostelsHyderabad: An IIT student and a tech industry worker were reportedly arrested by the excise special task force for selling ganja at hostels in SR Nagar. The task force has reportedly identified 22 peddlers, suppliers and consumers.The accused were identified as K. Pavan and K. Lokesh. A consumer was also arrested during a raid at a hostel on Friday night. Based on the accused’s confession, STF raided Lokesh’s house in Manikonda and seized 1.75 kilograms of ganja.Body with Injuries Found at Railway StationHyderabad: The body of an unidentified man was found with injuries near the VIP gate at Platform 10 of the Secunderabad railway station. Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector B. Saieashwar Goud received information about the body. “We suspect that the victim was a train passenger who was murdered by unidentified assailants in the early hours,” Goud said. The Clues team and the dog squad were called into collect clues. The arrests were made on a complaint by conductor Thalla Jyothi of the Kushaiguda depot.She stated that at about 10.50 am, while the Metro Express service was heading from Afzalgunj towards Ghatkesar, the four accused, riding on two two-wheelers began honking the horn and abusing the driver, Dheeravath Ganesh. When the bus slowed down at the Y-Junction near the OU police station, the accused entered the bus and assaulted Ganesh.Ganesh sustained bleeding injuries and fell unconscious. The incident came to light on Saturday.Mogili Sai Kumar, 24, from Konapur in Bibipet mandal, and Rangu Veena, 23, from Ambaripet in Domakonda mandal, were in love since school, police said. Sai Kumar was employed as a physical education teacher at a private school in Toopran, Medak district.While Sai Kumar’s family had accepted the idea of a love marriage, Veena’s family opposed it. Reportedly, Veena’s family had stopped her from continuing her degree studies due to the relationship.Distressed by the situation, Sai Kumar died by suicide in their agricultural fields on Friday afternoon. After hearing of his death, Veena died by suicide at her home in Ambaripet.Local police, including Bhiknoor CI Sampath Kumar and Domakonda SI Anjaneyulu, visited the scene. The bodies were sent for post-mortem at the Government Hospital in Kamareddy.Woman Killed as Car OverturnsHyderabad: A woman died when a car she was travelling in overturned on the ORR late on Friday, when the driver was overspeeding. The driver and another occupant of the car were injured, Abdullapurmet police said.Police identified the victim as Sowpati Srivalli, and the survivors as M. Shiva, who was at the wheel, and S. Anil 25. They were returning to ECIL in the city from Nalgonda. Police said the driver lost control of the car which fell on the other side of the ORR and rolled over for five to six times.The doors of the vehicle flung open, and all three were thrown outside. Swapna suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.The highway police team was the first to reach the spot and moved the survivors to a hospital. Swapna was a receptionist in a diagnostic centre in Neredmet. A Tenali native, she separated from her husband after three years of marriage and was staying with her sister. Man Arrested for Selling Ganja ChocolatesHyderabad: Adibatla police arrested a Bihar native for selling ganja-laced chocolates among his co-workers. The police seized 3.8 kg of ganja chocolates and the accused, Santosh Kumar, was remanded to judicial custody.Rachakonda police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said that Kumar noticed ganja addiction among his colleagues and wanted to profit from it. He also noticed small-time vendors selling ganja-laced chocolates at high prices. Kumar went to Bihar, and returned with 19 packets of ganja chocolates weighing 3.8 kg. He was selling them to his colleagues at Rs.30 a chocolage.”Five-Year-Old Girl Dies of Snakebite Nalgonda: A five-year-old girl died of a snakebite in the washroom of her house at Pogilla of Chandampet mandal in the district on Saturday. The victim Karramkodu Pavithra was the daughter of Kishan Naik and Ganga. The families shifted her to an area hospital at Devarakonda where doctors declared her brought dead.
