SC Hears ‘Disproportionate Assets’ Case Against Jagan Reddy

Vijayawada: The Supreme Court held a hearing on the disproportionate assets case against former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday and expressed displeasure over the CBI delaying the investigations.A division bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna heard the petition filed by the Telugu Desam MLA from Undi, Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, seeking an order to move the case from Telangana to another state and expedite the investigations.Petitioner’s counsel submitted that six judges had either been changed or have retired and there was no progress in the investigations. The court observed that the aspects mentioned in the affidavit were quite surprising and expressed its displeasure over delay in the investigations.CBI’s counsel submitted that several discharge petitions were being filed, causing hurdles. However, the court did not accept this as an excuse. The court adjourned the case for next hearing to Nov11 after CBI counsel said the additional solicitor general was not accessible.
