After Uddhav Thackeray’s warning to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi not to insult their idol VD Savarkar, Shiv Sena mouthpiece on Monday asked Rahul Gandhi to learn from VD Savarkar and fight against the BJP as Savarkar fought against the Britishers to get the freedom to India.
Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Samaana reads that Rahul Gandhi should stop insulting the idol like Savarkar and saying he is not Savarkar.
“Savarkar sacrificed his life for the country. He was not afraid of Britishers. Rahul Gandhi is also saying the same thing that he is not afraid of the BJP and even ready to go to jail for the larger interest of the country and save the democracy and constitution. Rahul Gandhi in his press conference and parliament fearlessly asked questions about the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Industrialist Gautam Adani. Like Savarkar nurtured the freedom fighter to fight against colonial rule, the same way Rahul Gandhi should make such fearless and brave workers and leaders who can fearlessly fight against the BJP,” stated in the Saamana.

It stated that Savarkar is an idol for many people and by raising questions over his clemency, Rahul Gandhi will not achieve anything. “Rahul Gandhi neither distorts the image of VD Savarkar nor helps him politically as well. There is a deep reverence for Savarkar among people. In fact, if he continues the vitriolic attack on Savarkar, it will put Congress in Maharashtra in trouble and people will distance themselves from Congress party,” reads the edit.
“It is true that Rahul Gandhi’s family, Motilal Nehru, and Pandit Nehru fought against the tyranny of the Britisher and worked hard to get freedom for India. Besides, Indira Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country. No one can deny the contributions of the Gandhi family for the family, but at the same time, Rahul Gandhi also cannot deny the contribution of Savarkar and his family for the country,” stated in the edit.

“It further says Savarkar was imprisoned as an accused in the murder of General Rand, Nashik collector. Savarkar’s barrister degree was taken away by Britisher and in the same way, Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the parliament after his attack on Modi-Adani. Savarkar faced 50 years of imprisonment without any fear, but never bowed before the Britisher,” it added.
Saamana edit reads that Congress leader P Chidambaram when he was union minister proposed the money laundering act and the same act has been used against Congress and the Opposition by the BJP.
“The ordinance was torn by Rahul Gandhi into several pieces when Congress was in power, now that same ordinance has been used to disqualify Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha still he is fighting and determined to raise the questions,” read the edit.
