New Delhi: At a time when the Opposition is up in arms over the United States deportation of illegal immigrants to India, the RSS has not only endorsed the move but is also pushing the Government of India to toe the line of US President Donald Trump. Referring to US President Donal Trump’s immigration policy, the RSS mouthpiece Organiser writes: “Right from the word go, in his second innings as US President, Trump went on to issue a series of executive orders, among which a considerable number deals with issues of illegal immigration… Trump has set the ball rolling for many other countries to follow the cue and do the needful.” In 2022 the Pew Research Centre had projected that around 725,000 unauthorised Indian migrants were living in the US. As per Pew Research Centre, India ranks fourth in the US for the number of illegal immigrants, following Guatemala, Honduras and Haiti.Endorsing the US policy, the Organiser writes: “Any sovereign country has the right to protect its borders, and prevent all kinds of illegal infiltration that eventually has serious consequences on demography, law and order, indigenous culture and even the security of a nation.” Urging the Indian government to severely crack down on illegal immigrants, the RSS mouthpiece notes that the impact on “Bharat” has been “far worse”. It argues that “illegal Infiltration through porous regions along the Indo-Bangladesh borders has resulted in crores of Bangladeshis, and Rohingyas, surreptitiously sneaking into Bharat over decades.” The consequences, according to the mouthpiece, have been “massive demographic changes in many places, rising instances of radicalism, human trafficking, rise in cross-border illegal trade in narcotics”, among other crimes. As the ethnic conflict (between Kukis and Meiteis) in Manipur continues to rage, the RSS mouthpiece throws its weight behind the Meiteis by arguing: “In the Northeast. one can witness how the open border with Myanmar has resulted in massive influx of illegals over decades and in states like Manipur, that resulted in the indigenous Meitei community almost being pushed to the corner, and on the verge of becoming a minority in terms of population.”Urging the government to embrace the Trump policy, the RSS mouthpiece writes: “Therefore, much on the line of the actions being taken by the Trump administration, Bharat needs to put in place a comprehensive policy plan, backed by a legal mandate.” The Organiser suggests the Indian government must adopt a “National Border Policy”, “explore the idea of a uniform standard operating procedure (SOP) for all borders”, reconsider the treaty with Bangladesh for the use of non-lethal weapons at the border, and “declare illegal infiltration as a federal crime”, among several other such measures.
