Rihanna is going to be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show next year! The superstar, 34, confirmed reports that were making rounds earlier in the day with a simple — but powerful — post via her Instagram on Sunday, Sept. 25. Her tattooed hand was seen holding up an NFL branded football against a crispy white background in the image, with the caption just a simple period. No further explanation was necessary as the Rihanna Navy (the nickname for her fans) and everyone else around the world immediately knew the post confirmed what had already made headlines just hours before! More AboutRihanna
The confirmation comes after she turned down the opportunity in 2019 as she stood in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. “I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people,” she said to Vogue magazine months later. “I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.” Maroon 5 headlined that same year, which was also turned down by Cardi B, also over Colin.
