Flying squads to curb coal smugglingTo crack down on illegal trade and smuggling of coal in Jharkhand, flying squads have been formed by Jharkhand police, A team headed by senior police officials will comprise four constables each in the flying squads in all the divisional areas. These teams will work to curb and abolish all illegal coal smuggling in the state. Along with these, one platoon of armed forces will also be deployed in each squad. SPs of all the districts have also been directed to cooperate during such raids against illegal mining and trade of coal in the state.
Suspense over Oppn unity in JharkhandThough Bihar CM Nitish Kumar the talks with Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren as positive on opposition unity, but it will not be easy for them to go for 2024-Lok Sabha polls together taking all the opposition parties together, as according to political experts, a dispute over seat sharing is bound happen. Given the fact that the vote bank and Congress, JDU and JMM clashes with each other, it will be difficult for the united opposition to reach to a consensus on seat sharing and there are only 14 Lok Sabha seats which has to be distributed among all the opposition parties.
Maoists issue advisory to warn villagers of IEDsThe CPI (Maoists) once again have idsued an advisory to the villagers living in and around the Kolhan jungles in West Singhbhum, warning them not to enter the jungles as the land mines planted by them might explod leading to death or leaving people critically injured. As per the pamphlets distributed by the Maoists, they have planted hundreds of IEDs, land mines, booby traps and spike holes, to prevent security forces entering the jungles. They have also asked people to appeal the police to stop their campaign and anti-Maoist operations in Kolhan jungles.
