Visakhapatnam: The Railway Board has sanctioned Rs 240 crore for the Raipur-Vizianagaram line in the Waltair Division. The project encompasses the construction of a 5.5 km flyover that will facilitate the traffic flow on the Raipur-Vizianagaram line, enabling it to connect seamlessly with the loop line at Singapur Road.This crucial upgrade is part of the Energy, Mineral, and Cement Corridor of Indian Railways, aimed at increasing overall traffic capacity and ensuring smooth train movements across this heavily trafficked area. By alleviating congestion in the Koraput-Rayagada-Singapur Road section, which has been a persistent operational hurdle for the Waltair Division. The project is expected to enhance the efficiency of train operations in the Koraput-Rayagada area. “This project signifies a substantial advancement in overcoming the infrastructure challenges along the Raipur-Vizianagaram line and will positively impact freight and passenger train services,” stated DRM Waltair Manoj Kumar Sahoo. “It will enable more fluid traffic movement and strengthen the capacity of one of the region’s most vital railway corridors,” he added.
