NEW DELHI: The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is completing nine years in power on May 26, an occasion for the BJP to showcase its achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A series of presentations were made on Friday dwelling on the scale and speed of development works. Party chief JP Nadda described the nine years as a period of dedication seva (service), sushasan (good governance) and garib-kalyan (welfare of the poor).
“India under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not only developing rapidly on all fronts, but also gaining global acceptance and grandeur. The country is working with the spirit of ‘sab ka vikas, sab ka saath, sab ka prayas’ (all-round development with unity of purpose),” said Nadda at a media interaction. “India is now being acknowledged as a bright spot for development,” he said.
On the sidelines of the formal interaction, Nadda told this newspaper that the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be fought on the issues of development. “Opposition’s efforts to forge unity against Prime Minister Modi will be nothing but a futile exercise of those who indulge in the politics of survival instead of ‘politics of seva, sushasan and garib kalyan’.”
Outlining the government’s 9 years of performance, Nadda said India is no more seen as a corrupt nation. It is viewed as a country moving fast on the economic path after Modi became ‘Pradhan Sevak’ of the country. “It is now a well-accepted fact that India under PM Modi has a government that can take hard decisions. The government is working for holistic and inclusive growth,” Nadda said.
While having a free interaction with the media, many senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union minister Smriti Irani, Anurag Thakur and others shared the developmental nuances of the Modi government.
“India ensured a safe return of over 2.97 crore people from across the world during the Covid-19 pandemic and the Indian economy has become the world’s 5th largest economy in 2022 with more than 100 unicorns,” said Smriti Irani.
The party said between 2015 and 2022, the government saved more than Rs 2.73 lakh crore due to the distribution of benefits through direct bank transfer. The Government-e-Marketplace (GeM) portal is successfully eliminating corruption and streamlining public procurement in the country, the party said.
Listing the schemes launched by the Modi government, it said their implementation has empowered every Indian. The results of such “irreversible empowerment” can be seen in programmes like MUDRA Yojana and Stand-Up India, which are creating a large pool of young entrepreneurs from marginalised groups.
“More than half of the 40 crore loans under Mudra have been given to SC, ST, OBC entrepreneurs. This has ushered in empowerment of not just individuals, and has offered a means to empowering traditionally neglected communities,” it said.
