Hyderabad: Two two-wheeler riders died on the spot after they were hit by a pick-up truck on Thursday night, Hayathnagar police said. The victims were identified as Gangulapati Sanjeevaiah, 19, who was riding the vehicle and N. Manoj Kumar, a Class 9 student was sitting on the pillion seat.The pick-up truck belonging to a dairy farm hit the vehicle near a real estate office in the area. The victims suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot, police said.Police said Sanjeevaiah had picked up Manoj, a resident of Pasmala who had arrived in the city a bus, and were headed towards Hayathnagar when the accident took place, police said. Police seized the pick-up truck and arrested driver G. Srinivas.Man Sentenced to Death for Murder of WifeHyderabad: The Eighth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Nampally, on Thursday awarded death penalty to a 43-year-old driver, Imran ul Haq, for killing his wife after demanding additional dowry of `30,000 to purchase a car. The victim, Naseem Akthar had died on the spot after he stabbed her and hit her with a hammer.The judge also sentenced Haq to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and pay fine of Rs.5,000 under Section 498(A) IPC. The court also levied a fine of `10,000 for murder. Haq and Naseem, married in 2004, had four children. Haq married another woman in 2015 but separated from her.On January 6, 2019, Haq’s brother Afsar noticed the attack and informed Naseem’s family. The victim’s brother Mohammed Mazheruddin, 32, lodged a complaint with Bhavaninagar police.Then Bhavaninagar inspector N Venkateswarlu conducted the investigation. The Bhavaninagar police filed a chargesheet before the court of C.V.S. Sai Bhupati, Sessions Judge, who examined the evidence and sentenced Haq.Couple, Said to Be Ailing Ends Life at HomeHyderabad: A couple, Chitkula Srivinas, 47, and his wife Ramadevi, 45, died by suicide in their house in Mallikarjunanagar, Malkajgiri police said on Thursday. The residents grew suspicious after the couple did not open the door and informed their son Mallesh, who resides in the same locality. Mallesh grew suspicious after his parents did not respond to telephone calls, broke open the house doors and found the bodies. He had last seen them at dinner on Wednesday night.Police said the couple were ill and were going through financial crises.
