Hyderabad: Overflowing drains at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) are causing severe problems for the students and faculty. Several areas on campus including the Spandana Block, the canteen, the area near the second gate of the campus and behind the hostels are affected by the issue.Student leader Rahul Naik raised his concerns, stating that the situation is becoming worse and it is causing inconvenience. He stated that there is unbearable stink and waterlogging in affected areas which make it difficult for students and staff to move around. He also stated that replacing old pipelines might be necessary to resolve the issue.Students have submitted a petition to Venkateshwar Reddy, Director of Bureau of Industrial Consultancy (BICS), asking for immediate action. They claimed that despite raising the issue earlier, the problem remains unresolved and the files are still pending.In response, Venkateshwar Reddy assured that steps are being taken to address the problem. He stated that the university has already approached Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials and that the necessary paperwork is in progress.He also stated that the work on fixing the drainage system will begin soon. Meanwhile, students continue to face difficulties, asking for faster resolution of the issue on the campus.
