NEW DELHI: PRIME Minister Narendra Modi met several international leaders on the sidelines of the COP28 conference in Dubai on Friday. These leaders included British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan, and leaders from Guyana, Qatar, Italy, and Brazil.
Seven bilateral meetings took place between PM Modi and the leaders of the Maldives, Switzerland, Sweden, Israel, the UN Secretary-General, Uzbekistan, and France. During his meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, PM Modi extended condolences for the attack on October 7th and welcomed the release of hostages. He also reiterated the need for humanitarian aid for those affected and emphasised a two-state solution.
“In his meeting with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, both leaders reviewed the wide-ranging bilateral relations between the two countries, including people-to-people linkages, development cooperation, climate change, and sports,” according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
In his meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset, he discussed trade, education, health, IT and tourism. Modi also met with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and they discussed expanding ties in health, education, pharmaceuticals, etc. Follow channel on WhatsApp
