WARANGAL: Telangana State Cooperative Oil Seeds and Growers Federation (TSCOGF) chairman Janga Raghava Reddy Telangana State Cooperative Oil Seeds and Growers Federation (TSCOGF) on Thursday said that farmers could be prosperous by shifting from traditional paddy farming to oil palm cultivation. He described the crop as a game-changer that could transform the economic status of farmers and turn them into “Farmer Kings.”Raghava Reddy made the remarks during a visit to the oil palm nursery in Jangaon district as part of his campaign to promote oil palm cultivation across the region. He highlighted the high profitability of oil palm as a long-term crop alternative for local farmers. During his visit, he announced that a state-of-the-art oil palm processing factory will be established in Narmetta mandal, equipped with advanced machinery and an integrated refinery. “The facility will not only extract palm oil but will also refine and market the final product directly,” he said. Raghava Reddy stressed the importance of expanding oil palm plantations in Jangaon and Siddipet districts, setting a target of bringing 30,000 acres under cultivation. He urged farmers to consider the transition from water-intensive crops like paddy to oil palm, citing higher returns and better sustainability. To support the shift, he assured farmers that Telangana Oil Fed will provide full assistance and guidance throughout the cultivation process. He also directed officials to maintain regular field visits and engage directly with farmers to build trust and ensure smooth implementation. “The Narmetta factory, scheduled to open in June, will open up new economic opportunities for farmers and boost local employment,” Raghava Reddy said, expressing confidence in the success of the initiative.
