Hyderabad:The Raidurgam police on Thursday arrested one Rajesh Babu in connection with the death of a woman from Odisha at My Home Bhooja in Raidurgam on Wednesday. She was listed in a case of surrogacy.While it was initially assumed to be suicide, the Raidurgam police confirmed that the woman had died in a bid to escape the alleged harassment of the suspected accused. The victim used a ‘chunni’ and bedsheets as a rope to escape from the house in the ninth floor where she was put up. She managed to reach the sixth floor, from where she fell.Police sources confirmed that she was trying to escape as she was not being allowed to step out of the house.Sources confirmed that the woman had initially consented to the surrogacy had later changed her mind. Her husband insisted that she continue with it as the legal procedure was almost complete. The police said the couple had been paid `50,000 for travel expenses.After she was found dead, her husband alleged that she was being sexually abused and harassed by Rajesh Babu, husband of the couple who had sought surrogacy. Based on the complaint of the victim’s husband, a case was registered against Rajesh Babu on Wednesday.
