Hyderabad: Police have uncovered the murder of a 32-year-old nurse, G. Sirisha, with the arrest of her husband and sister-in-law on Wednesday.According to police sources, Sirisha was murdered by her husband, G. Vinay Kumar, and his sister at his apartment, No. 102, Janumana Towers, under Chaderghat police station limits on March 2. The duo allegedly suspected her fidelity.Vinay and his sister initially informed Sirisha’s sister that she had complained of chest pain and died of a heart stroke. They arranged for an ambulance and attempted to transport her body to Dommerapeta, Nagarkurnool district. However, Sirisha’s cousin, L. Madhukar, alerted the police, raising suspicions about the circumstances of her death.Investigations revealed that on the night of March 2, Vinay and his sister drugged Sirisha before smothering her to death using a pillow. They then informed Sirisha’s sister, G. Swathi, of her alleged death due to a heart stroke.Based on Swathi’s complaint, Chaderghat police launched an investigation. Police intercepted the ambulance carrying Sirisha’s body and directed it to Osmania General Hospital for a postmortem.“After the postmortem, we confirmed that the accused smothered and strangled Sirisha to death,” ACP Malakpet G. Shyam Sunder told Deccan Chronicle.Vinay later confessed to the crime, admitting that he and his sister intended to dispose of the body quickly. However, the police intervened and detained them.Sirisha and Vinay, both from Parakala in Hanamkonda district, have three daughters. After Sirisha’s parents died in 2015, she was adopted by a professor from Karimnagar in 2016. She later married Vinay, a native of Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool district, against the professor’s wishes. The couple moved to Jamuna Towers in Malakpet.Vinay, who worked in a private firm, reportedly began suspecting Sirisha’s fidelity after the birth of their first child in 2019. This led to frequent quarrels between them, police said.A senior police officer stated that further details would be disclosed in a press conference soon.
