NTR district is aiming at a robust growth rate of 18.5%: Collector

Vijayawada: NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha asked citizens of Vijayawada to actively engage in transforming their city into a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing urban centre. He stressed on the importance of civic pride and encouraged residents to collaborate with government officials in ongoing developmental initiatives. Outlining the district’s ambitious economic goals, the collector said NTR district is aiming for a robust growth rate of 18.5 per cent, with a target Gross District Domestic Product (GDDP) of ₹1.12 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2024–25. He mentioned that to achieve this, sector-specific action plans are currently being formulated, indicating a focused and strategic approach towards economic development across various industries within the district.Dr Lakshmisha elaborated on the innovative P4 programme Bangaru Kutumbam – Margadarsi as a community engagement strategy designed to foster widespread participation in developmental activities. He mentioned that the P4 initiative connects 89,000 “Bangaru Kutumbalu” with 10,000 “Margadarsi” volunteers. He highlighted that these groups will be further supported by dedicated WhatsApp groups managed by village and ward secretariat staff, creating a robust communication and coordination network at the grassroots level.The collector revealed that the district is exploring the public-private partnership (PPP) model for execution of significant projects, with a particular focus on bolstering the tourism sector. He explained that key locations identified for potential PPP development include the popular Bhavani Island, the sacred Pavitra Sangamam, the scenic riverfront, and the crucial Bandar, Eluru and Ryves canals.Dr Lakshmisha explained that this move aims to leverage private sector expertise and investment to beautify these areas and attract more tourists.
