Visakhapatnam: The no-confidence motion against Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari has taken a dramatic turn with leaders of the ruling NDA alliance in AP holding discussions with YSRC corporator Tippala Vamsi Reddy.Vamsi Reddy is the son of former Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy. The corporator is reportedly considering joining the Telugu Desam Party.TDP state president Palla Srinivas, accompanied by MLAs Velagapudi and Vamsi Krishna Yadav, met with Vamsi Reddy on Friday morning. After the meeting, Palla Srinivas announced that the NDA alliance is just two votes away from the majority needed to secure the mayor’s seat.Srinivas went on to reiterate that certain GVMC corporators are voluntarily joining the TDP, now a ruling party in Andhra Pradesh.In the interim, internal disagreements are emerging within the NDA alliance over the mayoral and deputy mayoral posts. Jana Sena corporators in the GVMC have expressed reluctance to engage in camp politics without clarity on which party will get the deputy mayor’s post.It is said ahead of the no-confidence motion, TD corporators and those backing the ruling party are in Malaysia. Representatives of YSRC are in Sri Lanka.Significantly, the two members of the Communist parties, are expected to abstain from voting in the no-confidence vote.The no-confidence motion against mayor Venkata Kumari is scheduled on April 19.
