Hyderabad: Dr Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, a 1982 batch IAS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, assumed charge as director-general of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) on Monday. In his 34-year career as a civil servant, Dr Kumar was previously executive officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).His other roles were as commissioner of commercial taxes, principal secretary, agriculture and cooperation, marketing, and housing departments, and as secretary of finance from 2006 to 2009.After his retirement, Dr Kumar served as the State Election Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh from 2016 to 2021. Additionally, he was a member of the Court of Governors of ASCI.He holds a postgraduate degree in economics, a PhD in economics, and a degree in law.
