Hotshot star Nani wanted to expand his fan base in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala with his latest offering ‘Saripodhaa Sanivaaram’ but he couldn’t succeed, if you go by the collections made in these states. “Unlike in Telugu, the action adventure did not set box office on fire in southern states and just managed Rs 1.5 to 2 crore plus collections combined in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. It has to be picked up very soon to mark remarkable collections and justify Nani pan-south plans,’ says a distributor.He appreciates Nani’s big efforts to promote the film in neighbouring states and for spending a lot of time with the media and eventually, the anger driven film definitely gets some mileage. “Yet, the collections didn’t match to his humongous efforts and his dream to draw good openings even in other states didn’t happen as expected. In fact, the footfalls in many theatres in southern states have been disheartening,” he points out.No doubt, he impressed southern viewers with his sci-fi thriller “Eega’ and again invested all his energy and time to boost the chances of his latest action adventure in non-Telugu speaking states. His performance received appreciation but many found loopholes in the story and screenplay. “Nani has to find the right script to rock the audience since his latest movie ‘Saripodhaa…is being dubbed as a routine action saga,” he concludes.
