VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has formed a three-member committee to decide on the alliance nominee for the MLC polls in the Uttarandhra Upadhyaya (North Andhra Teachers) constituency.The three are MP Bharat, MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao and AS Ramakrishna. Notably, the TD did not field its candidate in the election for this post.Naidu visited the Telugu Desam central office at Mangalagiri on Friday and met party leaders. They discussed the MLC elections in AP, as well as the welfare of TD workers.Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, TD state president Palla Srinivasa Rao, MLC Ashok Babu, MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar and others participated in the discussions at the party office. Naidu said criminals disguised as political leaders have become a major threat to democracy. “Those who have murdered democracy in AP in the last five years are now looking for new leaders.” He told the party leaders they must take the MLC elections involving the graduates of the joint Godavari and Krishna-Guntur districts seriously. The CM said the alliance candidates Alapati Rajendra Prasad and Perabathula Rajasekhar should work hard and win with a huge majority.Naidu also inquired about the welfare of the party workers. He discussed with the leaders how much has been spent on the welfare of the workers so far and how much more is to be paid or done. He said, “It is very dangerous for democracy if criminals are hiding behind politics. There is a need to identify and root out such people. For the last five years, the state has become a nightmare. They made mistake after mistake and tortured the people and the opposition.”
