WARANGAL: In a decisive effort to safeguard Telangana’s rich cultural heritage and stimulate local tourism, Smitha Sabharwal, Secretary of the State Tourism and Youth Services Department and Director of the Archaeology Department, announced comprehensive preservation and development plans for the historic Kota Gullu and the scenic Ganapa Samudram Lake.Accompanied by district collector Rahul Sharma, director of heritage Lakshmi, deputy director Ramulu Naik, and assistant director Mallu Naik, Sabharwal inspected the Kotagullu temple in Ghanapuram, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, on Monday. During the inspection, they gathered information about the temple’s significance and related land details.Speaking at the event, Sabharwal announced that Kota Gullu and Ganapa Samudram Lake have been included under the special assistance to states for capital investment (SASCI) scheme. The Ramappa Region Sustainable Temple & Tourism Circuit project has been allocated ₹73.74 crore for development.After reviewing various development plans, Sabharwal inspected Ganapa Samudram Lake, where tourism enhancement works are scheduled. These projects include constructing a security entrance gate, parking facilities, restaurants, washrooms, lakeview resorts and cottages, a children’s playground, six wide CC roads, island construction with boating facilities, and more.She instructed the officials to expedite the developmental works to ensure that Kota Gullu and Ganapa Samudram Lake become accessible to tourists promptly. Sabharwal highlighted that these sites are poised to become some of the best local tourist destinations in the state, contributing significantly to the region’s tourism growth and economic development.
