Most wanted woman don ‘Angoori Bai’ in police net

Hyderabad: The excise police on Thursday arrested Aruna Bai, alias Angoori Bai, said to be wanted in 13 narcotics cases. Angoori Bai doesn’t carry a mobile phone so that she cannot be tracked, police said.Angoori Bai, along with her 15 family members, operated a ring of 150 peddlers and is said to have a turnover of crores of rupees. She had evaded the police on several occasions, DG, excise, V.B. Kamalasan Reddy said.Angoori Bai, known locally as the ‘woman don’, had several times dodged the police, sometimes escaping from the rear door of her house in Mangalhat, sources disclosed.“During Operation Dhoolpet, we identified 15 families comprising over 150 people from Dhoolpet and surrounding areas who are into the ganja business. We have booked 69 cases and arrested over 110 peddlers, and suppliers during the past two months,” Kamalasan Reddy told Deccan Chronicle.“Since Angoori Bai never carried a mobile phone, it became difficult for our teams to trace her through GPS. We decided to form a special investigation team (SIT) team which was deployed in several areas. We finally arrested Angoori Bai in Karwan,” he said.The DG said he had personally studied the modus operandi of families involved in the drug trade. He said he had directed officials to form another special team to prosecute the arrested culprits. Prosecution efforts would be intensified, and over 100 pending chargesheets would be filed soon.“Based on the gravity of the incidents, we have decided to also seize properties of the accused who earned income from the sale of narcotics,” Kamalasan Reddy said.The other top drug suppliers have been identified Man Mohan Singh of Balramgalli, Dhoolpet; Vishal of Shivalalnagar’ Kalu Don Pan Mukhi of the Hanuman Mandir area, Gopal Singh of Gangabowli, Neelash alias Vishal Don and Nala Shankar of Vijay Anandnagar.Angoori Bai used to stock ganja at her apartments, near the National Police Academy in Shivrampally, while Man Mohan Singh did so in Jiyaguda. They collect the consignment from Afzalgunj and have their own private vehicles to import ganja from AP, police said.
