Hyderabad: Experts at the 76th Annual National Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS 2025) stressed the importance of shifting mental health care from merely addressing illness to promoting overall wellness. Held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), the four-day event brought together leading psychiatrists and researchers to discuss the theme, “Neurobiology of Illness to Wellness.” The conference, hosted by the IPS Telangana branch, is a landmark event showcasing cutting-edge advancements in psychiatric medicine. “Understanding the neurobiology of mental illnesses is crucial to fostering holistic wellness,” said Prof. Dr P. Raghurami Reddy, senior psychiatrist and mentor of the IPS Telangana branch. He emphasised the need for a broader approach to mental health care, which integrates clinical expertise with innovation to enhance patient outcomes.Prominent speakers and delegates from India and abroad attended the conference, sharing insights into emerging psychiatric practices, research and clinical applications. Organising secretary Prof. Dr M. Umashankar said the conference aims to enhance mental health awareness while paving the way for more inclusive treatment approaches. “This event is not just about discussing the science behind mental illnesses but also about how we can transform care to benefit patients and society at large,” he explained.The conference also included discussions on the challenges of mental health stigma, new diagnostic techniques and treatment advancements. “Psychiatry is evolving rapidly, and forums like these are essential for staying ahead in research and clinical practice,” added Prof. Dr Kishan, the chairman of the organising committee.Prof. Dr Vishal Akula and Dr G.
