Memorial meeting held for writer, activist, academician Prof. Ali Javed



A memorial meeting for Prof. Ali Javed, Working President, Progressive Writers Association (PWA) was held on Tuesday at Press Club of India at Delhi. It was organized by PWA, Delhi State.It was presided by Dr. Vibhuti Narain, Dr. Sirsa and Dr. Farhat Rizvi.A galaxy of writers belonging to different languages joined it, including the two sons and two daughters of Dr. Ali Javed.Prof. Apoorvanad, Dr. Rakshanda, Dr. Purshottam Aggarwal, Prof. Tripta Wahi, Dr. Wazahat, Prof Dinesh Varshney, Secretary CPI Delhi State Council and National Council member CPI and many others remembered Dr. Ali Javed and lauded his role for his lifelong contributions to the field of multilingual literature. He was specially a bridge between Hindi and Urdu.Prof Ali Javed was born in UP’s Allahabad on December 31, 1954. He did his graduation from Allahabad University. He did his MA in Urdu and then PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Subsequently, he took up a teaching job at Delhi’s Zakir Husain College.Ali Javed had retired from Delhi University’s Urdu Department in 2019. He was admitted to Max Hospital Saket on August 12 following a brain haemmorhage. He was later shifted to GB Pant hospital where he breathed his last.Ali Javed is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
