Massive fire ravages 10 homes in Uttarkashi's Sawani village; No casualties reported, relief teams deployed



District Disaster Management Officer Devanand Sharma stated, “A team from the revenue department has already reached the affected village. Personnel from the forest department stationed in nearby areas have also been called in to assist with relief and rescue operations. All relevant departments have been instructed to mobilize promptly, and medical and drinking water services have been directed to reach the site as well.”According to administrative sources, the District Magistrate has instructed the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, along with personnel from the Tons Forest Division and Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, to provide support for relief and rescue efforts. Additionally, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Purola has been tasked with coordinating these operations.Nidhi Semwal, Deputy Director of Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, said, “Forest workers in the area are engaged in efforts to control the fire, and additional teams from the forest department are being dispatched to the site. Efforts to contain the fire in Sawani village are ongoing, with local villagers playing a leading role in this campaign.”
